Enact Plans and Protect Focus in the Moment

A plan only pays off when it fires in the moment. The whole point of deciding in advance is that, under pressure or distraction, the action runs without renegotiation. This is where if-then planning earns its keep, especially against the constant pull to switch tasks. A drawer full of well-written plans changes nothing until the plans show up as behavior when their cues arrive.

Measurable Behaviors

Behaviors are optimized to be directly observable for evidence-based skill tracking.

Establish a shared focus protocol with agreed responses to common interruptions

Sets up a team practice where common interruptions have agreed responses, like a protected focus block.

Perform the planned action when its cue occurs

Carries out the planned action the moment its trigger arrives, and logs that it happened.

Re-engage the plan after a miss instead of dropping the goal

Returns to the plan at the next opportunity after a slip, rather than writing the goal off.

Run the counter-response when a distraction cue fires

Meets a notification or the urge to switch with the planned response instead of following the pull.

Set a visible reminder of the cue before the situation arrives

Places the trigger and action where you will see them before the moment, not after you miss it.

Mastering Enactment and Focus

A strong practitioner performs the planned action when its cue arrives and runs the rehearsed counter-response when a distraction hits, rather than getting pulled away. They make cues hard to miss, recover quickly after a slip instead of abandoning the goal, and help the team hold shared focus. The plans show up as behavior, not just on paper.
