How to Plan Multi-Channel Campaigns With Clear Conversion Goals

Make every channel serve the same pipeline outcome. Turn the agreed segment into a brief with a qualified-opportunity goal, evidence-based channels, progressive touchpoints, working attribution, and decision dates before spend.

Developing

Start here. Build the foundation.
  1. 1

After segment approval, write one brief with the audience, offer, channels, timeline, and qualified-opportunity goal, including a number and deadline. Every contributor should work from it and state the same outcome.

  2. 2

Before allocating budget, choose channels from past performance or audience research and record each channel's evidence and role. A reviewer should trace every choice to an audience signal and explain why omitted channels did not earn spend.

Proficient

Build consistency and rhythm.
  1. 3

Once channels are selected, sequence their touchpoints by the new value, proof, or decision each adds; remove repetitions. The buyer's understanding should advance at every contact, and removing a touch should break that progression.

  2. 4

Before launch, test attribution from first touch through opportunity, schedule dates for messaging, targeting, or budget decisions, and block spend until the path works. A test response should appear in the shared pipeline view.

Mastered

Operate at the highest level.
  1. 5

Define the brief's required audience, pipeline goal, channel rationale, touchpoint sequence, tracking, and review dates, then assign another reviewer to enforce them. Incomplete briefs should stop; complete briefs should launch without you.

Common Pitfalls

Avoid the common failure modes.
  • Approving a goal that cannot guide a decision. Awareness has no threshold for changing a live campaign. Replace it with a qualified outcome, a number, and a date before the brief advances.
  • Calling repeated messages a sequence. The same pitch across email, paid, social, and events does not build momentum. State what each touch adds and how it prepares the next action.
  • Reconstructing tracking after launch. Missing attribution turns performance review into guesswork. Test the full conversion path and block spend until it is visible.
