Start by listening carefully and asking questions. Avoid guessing. Clarify which tasks you should focus on first.

Observe the behavior of your manager and co-workers. Hold your suggestions until you have earned permission to make them.

Your manager sets expectations; you are responsible for making sure you understand them. Explain what you think is required and ask them to confirm or correct it.

When assignments conflict, bring the conflict to your manager and ask them to decide what takes priority.
