Find out what good looks like

Your manager sets expectations; your responsibility is to make sure you understand them. Bring the instructions and examples you have already found, and ask what completing your work requires.

Ask for exemplary work and how your work should compare. Have your manager or an experienced colleague explain which requirements are essential.

Confirm the deadline, how the task contributes to the organization’s priorities, and where it ranks against your other assignments. If the direction is still vague, propose what you think is required and ask your manager to confirm or correct it.
